Since several of you asked for an illustration of a first haircut, I decided to forego the compilation this week and give you one more in the series. The series doesn’t lend itself too naturally to a compilation anyways. There are a bazillion more illustrations I could do for this series, so I thought I might as well give you one more.
Most of you probably bring your kids into a beauty shop for haircuts??? But this mom cuts her whole family’s hair. Mine, my husband’s, and my kids! So this is a mom TRYING to cut her child’s hair. I’m guessing many of you have been part of a similar experience—whether firsthand or getting to watch the scene unfold. We didn’t cut my first son’s hair until he was one—the reasons are two-fold. First, I couldn’t part with his beautiful baby hair. Second, he just didn’t need it yet. But when it was time, this is exactly what happened—and STILL happens now that he’s over two. Every few haircuts I figure out a new way to distract him to get him to sit still… but I cannot count to you the many hair cuts that I’ve had to end resolving that, “well—it’s good enough I guess.” I take him out of his chair and watch him scamper away with many uneven hairs wisping this way and that. Him nor I could bear another moment of haircutting.
You continue to be a wonderful help, resource, and encouragement to me. As tomorrow starts another series, I am going to ask for more of your ideas. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts already!
